Explosive growth in online video market

The stream of positive news on the outlook for online video continues to swell. Online video consumption holds on to its steep rise and online video advertising networks now start to make serious money. Tremor Media (just founded in 2005 and already a US leader in this field), recently announced a follow-up funding of US$ 40m (!) in order to further build on their technology and expand into other media channels.

In a US study (picture) that Tremor Media recently published on the state of the online video market in 2010, 94% of the marketeers expected to increase their online video advertising budgets in 2010. The increase would come at the expense of the TV advertising budget, indicated 45% of respondents, but also print (39%) and display (34%) are to be cut for funding the increased spending in online video advertising.
Another interesting finding in this study is that 68% of respondents saw branded video realising good to excellent ROI (see the Tremor Media study).

In its recent 2010 study Emarketer expects the online video advertising market (in the US alone) to almost quadruple from US 1,4bn in 2010 to US 5,2bn in 2014. According to the study currently 67% of US internet users watch online video every month.

On the back of the steep growth in the online video industry and following the successful Online Video Advertisig Summit 08, (see here) we felt now it’s time to do it again and produce the next invitation based summit on Online Video Advertising, Marketing and Monetization (again in close co-operation with the online video taskforce of the Dutch IAB branch).
As this summit will address online video marketing and monetization too* (besides online video advertising), we felt the name should be the Online Video Summit 2010.

At 9 November 2010 this summit will be held at the inspiring setting of the Westerunie and Westerliefde at the ‘Westergasfabriekterrein’ in Amsterdam.

For me?

This Summit is focussed on the Dutch market; 50% of the content is presented in the Dutch language.

This Summit is especially interesting for senior executives at:
brands, publishers, media companies, advertising agencies, marketing & communication firms, the online, mobile, hosting and game industries and investors in forementioned industries.
